Pastor Maury Davis, Senior Pastor

Pastor Maury Davis was arrested at age eighteen for the crime of first-degree murder. Following his trial and conviction, he served eight and one-half years in the Texas Department of Corrections. During his incarceration, Pastor Davis found his Savior in Jesus Christ and led a revival among his fellow prisoners. Following his unexpected release from prison, Pastor Davis served on the pastoral staff of Calvary Temple in Irving, Texas, under the leadership of Dr. J. Don George where he served as Youth Pastor. There, he met and married his wife, Gail, and in 1986, they became parents of triplets – Gabrielle, Danielle, and Galen. In 1994, their son, Dillon, was born into the family. After five years at Calvary Temple, Pastor Davis answered the call to full-time evangelism and the young family traveled across the United States preaching at churches, youth camps, Bible schools, and speaking to teens in public schools. In 1991, after preaching one Sunday at the two-hundred-fifty-member Cornerstone Church in Madison, Tennessee, Pastor Davis was offered the position of Senior Pastor. He accepted that appointment and has led Cornerstone to its current average attendance of nearly 3,900 people. Pastor Davis simply preaches that Jesus is the answer… whatever the situation, whatever the problem. He has a heartfelt desire for people to understand that if God would save him, He stands ready to meet anyone, whatever their circumstances.

Pastor Chelsea Chavez, Assistant Children’s Pastor

cchavez1Chelsea Chavez was born and raised in Arizona. She grew up with parents who served God faithfully, attending the same Assemblies of God church for her whole life. It was at a youth camp her sophomore year of high School that the Lord put a burden for children on her heart. Although she had a strong passion to pursue a career in acting, the call of God on her life was greater. She attended Central Bible College in Springfield, MO, graduating with a B.A. in Children’s Ministries. She involved herself in various activities such as Student Government, a traveling drama team, and worked as a Resident Assistant during her time there. She also served in the children’s department at Ash Grove Assembly of God Church and, following graduation, assisted at her home church, Church on the Journey. Having a relationship with God at such a young age has strengthened Chelsea’s faith in what God can do in and through children. She has an excitement for life and for what God has planned for her here at Cornerstone.

Pastor Aaron Moore, Children’s Pastor

Aaron Moore was born into a pastor’s home and grew up in church in a small town located in Northwest Florida. At the age of eight, he received Christ as his Savior, and later that year at Kids’ Camp, Aaron accepted the call on his life to Children’s Ministries. Knowing beyond the shadow of a doubt that God had spoken to him, he clung to that calling with everything he had. At the age of 11, he ministered at his first Kid’s Crusade at a local church. This would be the start of a growing evangelistic ministry for this young minister, as he was in demand at many of these crusades across the panhandle of Florida each summer. This past summer marked his 12th year of traveling as a children’s evangelist. At the age of 14, Aaron became the interim Children’s Pastor at his home church, working under his father. He continued to fill this position until he graduated from High School in 2007 and then went on staff at the church as he also pursued his degree in musical theatre. Aaron remained on the staff at Carmel Assembly of God Church until October of 2011 when God released him to move forward in his degree and pursue the next step in ministry. Aaron is so excited to have landed at Cornerstone Church as the next move in God’s calling on his life. Being called to ministry at such a young age equips Aaron with the faith that anything is possible in the life of a child–no one is too young to be used of God. He is so humbled to be a part of planting the seeds and reaping the harvest of the next generation for Jesus Christ.

Pastor Sandy Sterban, Associate Pastor

Pastor Sandy Sterban sees the need for enlightenment in people’s lives in order for them to be winners in this life. Never content to remain inside boundaries, Pastor Sandy Sterban ministers in churches of all denominations. The driving force behind her is the desire to equip God’s people, whether in her home church or ministering wherever the Lord leads. Not knowing the Word as a young woman and how she could apply it in her life, Pastor Sandy Sterban allowed Satan to oppress her mind for nineteen years, thinking that this was God’s will. Through the power of praise and the Word of God, Pastor Sandy Sterban was released from the power of darkness and understood God’s longing for people to be free. “I know the Word of God can change the lives of people if they will only get it in their spirits. My desire is to teach believers about the incredible love and power of a big God. It’s imperative that Christians stop living beneath the provisions God has made for them.” Pastor Sandy oversees pastoral care, counseling and women’s ministries.
